Flight Training
Thornton Aircraft Company's flight training program is approved by the FAA for pilot ratings (LOA'S) in F-5, F-86, S211 and T-38 aircraft.

S211 Basic Jet Trainer
An applicant for our program must have a pilot's license, instrument rating, multi-engine rating (for T-38 and F-5), current medical certificate and a minimum of 500 hours of pilot experience. In order to receive a rating from the FAA in these aircraft, a pilot must have at least 1,000 hours of experience. Training is generally offered only to owners of the foregoing aircraft and existing customers of Thornton Aircraft Company.

T-38 Advanced Supersonic Jet Trainer
Our training program is based upon the USAF pilot transition training syllabus and covers the following topics:
Aircraft Systems
Cockpit Resource Management
Normal & Emergency Procedures
Instrument Procedures
Recovery from Unusual Attitudes
Use of Performance Charts
Fuel Requirements & Management
Runway Requirements
Operating Limitations
High Altitudes & Airspeeds
Aerobatics

Optional topics include physiological training and formation flying. A minium of 20 hours of ground school and 5 sorties are required to complete the course.
